Rhythm & Movement
Latin dancing brings together a wonderful variety of rhythms, music and styles. Each dance has its own distinctive character, from the playful rhythm of Cha Cha Cha to the flowing movement of Rumba and the energy of Samba.
At LatinQuarter we help you understand the individual character of each dance while developing the fundamentals of timing, rhythm, movement and partner dancing.
You don't need previous dance experience to begin. Our classes are friendly, relaxed and suitable for beginners as well as dancers looking to develop their existing skills.
The Latin Dances
One of the joys of learning Latin dancing is discovering how different each dance can feel.
Lively, rhythmic and full of character, Cha Cha Cha is one of the most recognisable Latin dances. You'll learn its distinctive timing, footwork and partner movements.
Rumba has a slower tempo that gives dancers time to explore controlled movement, balance, timing and connection with a partner.
Samba is energetic and rhythmical, with its own distinctive movement and musical character. It's an enjoyable contrast to the other Latin dances.
Paso Doble has a strong and dramatic character. Its distinctive music and movement make it very different from the softer style of Rumba or playful rhythm of Cha Cha Cha.
Get Into the Swing
LatinQuarter also teaches dances from the Swing family, bringing another range of rhythms and styles into our Belfast dance classes.
Swing dancing is lively, sociable and great fun. Learning Swing develops timing, coordination and partner skills while giving you a very different dancing experience from the traditional Latin dances.
Whether the music is relaxed and playful or faster and more energetic, Swing gives you the opportunity to enjoy the rhythm and freedom of social partner dancing.

Never Danced Before?
You don't need to know the difference between a Cha Cha and a Samba before coming to LatinQuarter. Complete beginners are welcome.
We introduce the dances progressively, helping you understand the basic steps and timing before developing your movement and partner dancing.
There's no pressure to master everything immediately. Part of the fun is experiencing the different dances and discovering which rhythms and styles appeal to you.
